We just shipped a big order of some new crop Sumatra Toba Batak Peaberry from Oakland, CA. I expect it to be in our roaster next weekend! Lintong coffees are farmed by the Batak peoples that are the indigenous tribe that works the coffee in this area. This particular lot of coffee is from a family of collectors working in the Lintong Nihota area, who mainly buy much of their coffee direct from the farmers, rather than through the open markets where mixed qualities of coffee are usually mixed together. I'm really excited about it!
This is the last week for Sulawesi, so, if you haven't had any, don't let this fabulous smooth coffee get by you!
The Best of NKY event on this past Thursday was a huge success! The voting tally has not been announced that we know of yet, but it was an amazing opportunity to meet people and tell them about Velocity Bike and Bean. We've already had 3 customers this morning who heard about us through that event. Passing out free bags of coffee makes you very popular! :) Lisa did an incredible job with our table, and it attracted a lot of attention to the shop. Whether we win "best of" or not, it was really fun to tell more people about the shop and spread the word about this great little shop! Here's some pictures of our table and the event.
