With temperatures above 90 last Saturday, our Bello Pops and Toddy Cold Brew iced coffee were a smash hit at the Anderson Farmers Market! Kids and adults alike rejoiced as we all tried to cool off and beat the heat. It was actually pretty cool to have some teens and adults come up to us and say, “I hear you have popsicles here” with a sheepish grin on their faces.
This week’s Bello Pop flavors will be Watermelon Pineapple, Strawberry Limeade, Orange Pineapple and Caramel Latte. We hope you will make a trip out to get some local produce and to try one of these fun, completely natural delights.
On the whole bean coffee side of things, the Rwanda Cup of Excellence was our best selling coffee at the market, which kind of surprised me. But, it really is the best coffee we have in our selection, so… maybe there’s a reason it’s selling well.
Anyway… come stop by and visit this Saturday from 9AM – 1PM. We’re located at the Anderson Town Center Bus Depot on 5 Mile Rd in Anderson Township.
Summer Roasting Schedule Change
With summer upon us we will be changing up our weekly roasting schedule. Since we are at the market on Saturdays it is too much for us to also roast the same day. So, we will likely be moving our roasting to Wednesday or Thursday. Keep an eye out for that info when you’re going to place your orders! And, as last year, the easiest way to get some coffee week in and week out is either from Velocity Bike & Bean or at the Anderson Market on Saturdays. We’ll be there all summer long!
Sumatra Peaberry Invasion
This past weekend I roasted the first batch of a new Sumatra Peaberry coffee we plan to roll out next week. On tasting the first brewed cup of it a few days ago, I was struck by the combination of classic forest floor type flavors with a sweetness almost like root beer in the finish. Given Sumatra’s broad recognition as an origin and the fact that this is a peaberry (which we’ll talk more about next week), I purchased more of this coffee than I normally would. Something tells me this one’s going to be a winner.
Nicaragua Here We Come!
We have booked our flights for our next mission trip to Nicaragua, July 19-26. We will be taking a small team of 5 from Cincinnati to spend time investing in the lives of the children at the Jardin del Ninos orphanage we help support in Somoto, as well as to minister in area churches and schools. While there we will also deepen our relationship with Luis Alberto Balladarez, our coffee farmer friend, whose coffee we expect to have again in the near future! More on this trip and its purpose soon!
