Carabello Coffee

Abana Estate Sulladjah Natural

Five years ago, we began purchasing coffee from Michael Omran and his family. We are blessed to say that our relationship has only deepened since 2019. From our regular correspondence with Michael, we have learned so much about the estate and their coffee growing methods, but what stands out to us even more is their huge heart to support the community of people around them.

The Omran’s journey with coffee production began in 2005 when they discovered the Abana Estate while visiting Ethiopia. The estate started as an old grove forest and is located in a remote area of the Oromia zone. The family poured much of their personal savings into the estate and has since created a farm that produces high quality coffee. The highest area of farmland on the estate sits around 2,200 meters—and that's where this coffee is grown! All coffees grown on the estate are heirloom varieties that are hand-picked and hand-sorted.

Always committed to producing the highest quality coffee, the Omrans also aim to produce their coffee in an ecologically sustainable way. These goals have naturally produced a positive impact on the local community. They use a water recycling wet mill and maintain the forest canopy. They fund several community based medical projects, support local schools, and have built community spaces such as sports fields. We are truly blessed to know the Omran family. We are proud to bring their coffee to you and look forward to doing so for years to come!
