The Nyarusiza Washing Station owned by the Muhirwa family processes coffee cherries for two coffee cooperatives near the village of Karaba.
Rwanda grows and processes coffee in a similar way to the rest of this part of Africa- where producers grow a very small amount of coffee and pool their quality cherries together in cooperatives and get paid by the washing station, who then processes the cherries before selling them to exporters. Many hands go into creating the quality we enjoy in this coffee.
