Carabello Coffee

49 Guatemala La Libertad

**All local pick up orders will remain available for 30 days.  After 30 days they will be donated to a local charity due to storage space.**

This Limited Release offering is a blended micro-lot from smallholder farmers in Huehuetenango, Guatemala.  This region of Guatemala is filled with challenging terrain, high elevations, and many of the villages in and around the mountains are over a day's journey from the nearest major road.  This makes predatory middle men a common part of coffee out here.  They are nicknamed "coyotes" and offer smallholder farmers terribly low prices for coffee in exchange for the convenience of not having to transport their coffee to the nearest major city.

This lot is part of a larger project that is run by Coffee Shrub, a specialty coffee importer, named Proyecto Xinabajul.  It is one of many efforts at putting more money into the pockets of the smallholder farmers who have not historically had access to good pricing.  They call this “Proyecto Xinabajul” (pronounced She-nah-bah-hool), named for the ancient Mayan name for the Huehuetenango region.

This lot is blended from the nearby communities of Libertad, a small mountainous town inside the region.  The farmers there grow incredible coffee in very small quantities.  We like to think of it as a neighborhood micro-lot.  Their powers combined results in a magnificent cup that exemplifies the sweet and bright flavors of Huehuetenango.

In the Cup

Caramel, Maple, Tangerine, Chocolate
