Carabello Coffee
Limited Release #84 Familia Cifuentes
The story begins with an incredibly strong woman named Rosalba. She grew up in a small town in Chiapas. She was impoverished and oppressed. As a young woman she freed herself of her circumstances and traveled to the United States. The Bay Area became her new home and there she met her husband. They both dreamed of starting a business and eventually landed on the idea of importing coffee.
In 2015 this dream became reality. Rosalba returned to Chiapas in order to meet coffee producers in the area. The first person she met on this venture was a cousin of hers. It turned out that her relatives owned four farms and produced quality coffee.
Watch the compelling story of Mayan Harvest Coffee
She started importing her family’s coffee and has since expanded. Now, she additionally imports two other lines beyond her family: one focusing on coffee from the area of Bella Vista and the other focusing on woman produced coffee.
In addition to building her own import and exporting company, Mayan Harvest, she also has invested in processing equipment and education for coffee producers.
This particular coffee is from Familia Cifuentes. It is a traditional washed coffee from Bella Vista, Chiapas. Coffee from this area tends to have a distinct flavor profile that has refined citrus acidity and a beautifully complex sweetness.
In the Cup: An absolutely lovely coffee with notes of Vanilla, Plum, Lemon & Brown Sugar.
