Guatemala Villatoro
The farm Los Dos Socios is owned by Concepción Villatoro, and is located in the western highland Huehuetenango region of Guatemala which borders Mexico. Our owners Justin and Emily visited this region several years ago and were blessed to spend time with Concepcion's son Aurelio while there.
The Villatoro family is a powerhouse coffee farming family. Nearly every member of this family has worked in coffee for generations. They have a vast understanding of what it takes to consistently produce high quality coffees and their many placements in the top 25 of the Cup of Excellence competition speak to that experience.
This farm’s unique name, meaning “the two partners,” refers to Concepción’s belief that he partners with God – God being the ultimate owner of the land and Concepción being its steward. Concepción farms 150 acres of land and cultivates three main coffee varieties on it: Caturra, Pache, and Pacamara. Over time, he hopes to expand the farm and eventually plant additional micro-lot varieties.
This lot is a variety separation of Caturra, prized for its sweetness and enjoyable cup character.
In the Cup: Expect one of those enjoyable every-day drinkers that we Americans find hard to resist. Notes of Sweet, Brown Sugar, Winey and Milk Chocolate are present from start to finish.
Unsure what Grind to choose? Here's how to decide.
