This coffee is from a region in Guatemala that we've never had coffee from before! Patzun, Chimaltenango is a subregion in Guatemala near Lake Atitlan. Along with being an entirely different micro-climate than Huehuetenango (where we get most of our Guatemalan coffees), this coffee is from an extremely well shaded canyon- meaning the soil is excellent at retaining ground water.
Finca Las Camelias is located at a whopping 1800 MASL, nestled in the canyon aforementioned. The farm is planted with dominantly Typica coffee with some Bourbón and Catuaí as well. These are all known for high cup quality, and coupled with such a lush environment, they really shine. The coffee is picked ripe, depulped, immersed in a tank for up to 24 hours, and then washed and patio dried.
This is one of those flavor profiles that will have you doubling your daily consumption for a little while!
In the Cup
Cinnamon Sugar, Caramel, Cocoa, Citrus
