We've been in great anticipation to get Octavio Lopez's coffee back into our roaster and into your cups. Octavio's coffee was single handedly one of our favorite coffees of the year last year, and we immediately requested dibs on his coffee again when we had the chance. Due to COVID's long lasting impact on our supply chain, instead of coming to us in July, the coffee didn't get shipped out of the country until September! But at long last, here it is.
This is a coffee sourced through Cafe Imports, whose presence in Guatemala means that they can partner with lots of smallholder farmers who are remote and usually don't get access to specialty pricing for their coffee. Octavio named his farm Finca El Durazno, because he also grows peach trees! The farm is located in Huehuetenango, the mountainous highlands of Guatemala. Octavio's coffee is picked ripe, and triple washed. This ends up sorting the coffee to make it free from defects, and it also gives the coffee a clean flavor and a ripe fruit acidity.
