Flores is a tiny island in Indonesia that experienced a huge volcanic eruption back in 2001. This has severely changed the landscape of the island, the crater is now several lakes that attract tourists from all over the world. The rich, volcanic soil makes for a flourishing agricultural economy, and at the heights of the ridges in and around this area of the country small plantations grow coffee among other cash crops for their local communities.
This special micro-lot comes from the peak where Bajawa meets Golewa. At a solid 1500 MASL, with old stock typica and a natural mutation of typica and liberica, this group of producers process their coffee with small batch equipment and dry their coffee under homemade domes to prevent weather from negatively affecting the coffee while drying.
This lot diverges strongly from the normal flavor profile of Flores, with plenty of pleasant acidity, and a juicy body!
In the Cup
Expect to find a delightfully complex Indonesian profile, featuring pronounced notes of Raw Sugar & Chocolate with a juicy body.
