Our Tandem Espresso is our flagship espresso. When we set out to create it, we spent a lot of time thinking about what it would look like to take the concept of riding a tandem bike and apply it to a coffee blend - no joke!
Since a tandem is ridden by two people, we committed ourselves to create a blend with two beans. As balance is extremely important when two people jump on a bike together, we looked for two coffees with flavor profiles and structures that would work well together. Finally, we knew we wanted to create an espresso blend that was very approachable as a single shot and yet would hold up well in a cappuccino.
In the Cup
The present iteration of Tandem Espresso is a blend of a washed Nicaraguan and a Washed Ethiopian Kochere, creating a rich, dark chocolate based espresso with notes of vanilla, brown sugar and candied citrus on top.
