Luis Alberto Balladarez is a coffee producer who has been a part of Carabello’s story from its earliest days. Justin first discovered Luis when he read about him winning the Cup of Excellence in 2011. This award is given to a select few out of hundreds of other coffee producers. Little did Justin know that he would be meeting Luis in person shortly after and would be forming a friendship that would last for years to come. 

Finca Un Regalo de Dios is truly a pride and joy for Luis. The farm’s name means “a Gift from God”. Luis not only attributes the acquisition of this land as a divine gift but also gives glory to God for any accolades that come from the coffee grown on this land. 

Un Regalo de Dios is a lush farm with forests surrounded by mountains on three sides. The farm is divided into several plots based on altitude. Luis is meticulous with his lot separations and each one has subtle variations. 

El Doctor is a nano lot from Un Regalo de Dios. The lot was planted with two F1 arabic coffee hybrids. The H1, also known as Centroamericano, was derived from Sarchimor x Rume Sudan, while H3 from Caturra x Ethiopian landrace.Both were developed in Central America to be high yield, disease resistant, and high cup quality coffees.
