The Sandia Valley in Puno Peru boasts some of the world's most distinctive and prized coffees. The ecosystems in Puno are extremely diverse. One can find hot jungles as well as the icy mountains of the Andes. The city of Puno is one of the highest cities in the world sitting at almost 4,000 MASL.
Sandia is the jungle of Puno. With its tropical climate and high altitude, Sandia is ideal for growing coffee. The most notable subregion of Sandia for growing coffee is Alto Inambari. Its name is derived from being the highest point in which the Inambari river passes in which the elevation reaches heights of nearly 3,000 MASL.
The coffee varieties that are typically planted in this region are Caturra, Bourbon, and Typica. All of which are found in this coffee. The rich, complex, and chocolaty profiles of these coffees are sure to be crowd pleasers. And this one is no exception!
