Carabello Coffee

Spring Fling Seasonal Blend

$7

The return of spring makes us want to shake off the winter blues and skip through a field of flowers! (Once they bloom, of course.) This blend celebrates the scents and flavors of the season: it's a little bit fruity, a little bit floral, with a balanced, medium body.

This year's blend is made of three components:

  • 50% Honduras Gabriel Leiva (Washed)
  • 30% Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Grade 2 (Washed)
  • 20% Costa Rica Rivense Full Honey (Full Honey)

Gabriel Leiva Washed: Our story with Gabriel Leiva began long before we actually met him. We had reached out to our friend and coffee exporter Benjamin Paz in the hopes of joining his program through Beneficio San Vicente. Benjamin’s program connects coffee farmers in Honduras with roasters from across the globe who will commit to buying 100% of the farmer’s coffee. We participated in this program for several years buying coffee from various farmers. Yet, we hadn’t quite found the right fit until we were connected with Gabriel. We were specifically searching for a coffee that highlights the classic flavors of coffee from Honduras. And coffee from the Leiva family truly delivers just that: Yummy. Smooth. Drinkable all day long. Classic Pacas!

Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Washed: This Grade 2, fully washed lot comes from smallholder farmers delivering cherries to the Idido Ukitee washing station, in the micro-region of Yirgacheffe. Ethiopian coffee is famed for the distinct flavors and cup characteristics that occur from its micro-regions. Although this offering is not traceable to a single variety, it is comprised of native heirloom varieties cultivated in Ethiopia.

Costa Rica Full Honey: In 2023 we traveled to Costa Rica to visit the Ureña family for the first time. Our friendship and their coffee has blessed us ever since. Regulo and his eldest sons run the farms. When Regulo gained an exportation license and built his own mills he gained complete control over the entire process from seed to exportation. After entering coffee into national competitions, the Ureña family gained global notoriety. The Ureña’s passion is experimentation. They grow unique varieties and use special fermentation methods.

In the Cup: Dried Fruit, Lemon, Apple, Light Floral, Vanilla, Sweet Red Grapes
