Carabello Coffee

La Esperanza Paraiso

$8.25

It is always a privilege to share a coffee from our friend Luis Alberto Balladarez. Luis is relentless when it comes to pursuing the best growing and processing methods. Each year, he continues to improve upon what we already thought were the best coffees out there. This lot from finca La Esperanza is a showcase of his diligent pursuit of excellence.

La Esperanza is one of Luis’ first farms and sits at 1500 meters above sea level.  This farm is lush and vibrant and has a perfect climate for growing coffee. There are quite a few varieties grown on finca La Esperanza but this one is the Paraiso variety. It was developed in Brazil in 1980. Paraiso is a cross between the Timor Hybrid and Catuaí Amarelo (Yellow Catuai). These plants were developed to be compact, disease-resistant, and high-yield. Though it originated in Brazil, Paraiso was introduced to Costa Rica in 2008 and is now gaining traction in much of Central America.
